Amaury Rivera: The Puerto Rico Abduction Case Gov't Ignored
Share
On a foggy stretch of highway near Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, on the early morning of Mother's Day 1988, a young Puerto Rican waiter named Amaury Rivera experienced what he would spend the rest of his life trying to explain. His account -- documented in a 191-page book published in 2011 -- is one of the most detailed and emotionally raw alien abduction testimonies ever recorded from Latin America. Rivera claims he has photographs to prove it.
The Road to Cabo Rojo: What Happened at 4:30am
Rivera was driving home alone at approximately 4:30am on the La Bajura road between Hormigueros and Cabo Rojo when dense fog began closing in around his vehicle. Without warning, two small figures -- roughly 3.5 feet tall, pale skin, enormous heads, almond-shaped eyes, dressed in olive-green tight-fitting clothing -- appeared in his headlights, running alongside the car. Rivera slammed the brakes. Then, paralyzed with terror, he lost consciousness.
The Underground Hangar: A Room Full of Cars
When Rivera regained consciousness, he was still in his car -- but no longer on the road. He found himself inside a large, gray facility. An underground hangar. Around him were more than ten other parked vehicles, all apparently brought there by the same beings. A figure approached and touched his forehead. He blacked out again.
The next scene Rivera recalls is being seated in a vast gray room with no visible walls, no seams, no visible light source. Fourteen other people -- all Hispanic -- sat with him. Two beings Rivera would later call the "oemores" stood at the front: small, gray, expressionless, blinking slowly. Then a third being entered. This one was different.
Amaron: The Being Who Spoke Spanish
Rivera describes the third figure as human-appearing -- copper-toned skin, black straight shoulder-length hair, black clothing, approximately 5'7" to 5'8" tall. This being spoke perfect Spanish. He said his name was Amaron. He said he came from a planet called "Kaa" -- like the letter K. He told the group that the oemores were genetically constructed beings, not threats. Then the projections began.
What Rivera calls "multi-dimensional projections" were fully immersive, 360-degree holographic displays that filled the entire room. The first projection placed the group above a Puerto Rican valley at night -- chairs moved, the environment shifted, and suddenly they were ascending through tree canopy into the open sky. Rivera describes sweating, crying, shaking. It felt completely real.
The Evidence Rivera Claims He Has
Unlike many abduction accounts, Rivera does not rely solely on memory and regression hypnosis. He claims to have taken photographs of the UFO craft itself -- images he has shared publicly and that have sparked ongoing debate in the UFO research community. Multiple independent investigators have looked at the photos. The story has been covered across YouTube and Spanish-language media for decades.
His 191-page firsthand account covers multiple projections and revelations Amaron shared with the group about humanity's future, ecological collapse, and why Earth was being observed. Rivera wrote every detail down himself, in Spanish, in the years following the incident.
Why Puerto Rico? The Caribbean UFO Hot Zone
The Cabo Rojo area of Puerto Rico has an unusually dense history of UFO activity. The Laguna Cartagena National Wildlife Refuge -- just miles from the La Bajura road -- has been the site of numerous military UFO encounter reports dating back to the 1980s and 1990s. Puerto Rico appears multiple times in declassified AARO database entries. Rivera's encounter did not happen in a vacuum.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Was Amaury Rivera's abduction real?
- Rivera has maintained his account consistently for over 35 years. He passed a polygraph test, produced photographs of the craft, and wrote a detailed 191-page firsthand account. Whether the event was literal or a complex psychological episode, it clearly had a profound and lasting impact on his life. Researchers in the Puerto Rico UFO community have investigated his claims extensively.
- Who is Amaron in the Amaury Rivera story?
- Amaron is the name Rivera gives to a human-appearing being he encountered inside the craft. Amaron spoke perfect Spanish, claimed to originate from a planet called "Kaa," and led Rivera's group through a series of immersive holographic projections showing global-scale imagery. Rivera describes him as copper-skinned, dark-haired, and calm -- nothing like the small gray oemores who handled the transport phase.
- What did Amaury Rivera's photographs show?
- Rivera claims to have photographed the UFO craft on La Bajura road before or during the encounter. The photographs show a disc-shaped object with visible detail. They have been analyzed by independent researchers and remain one of the more discussed pieces of photographic evidence in Puerto Rican UFO cases. You can find them discussed in multiple YouTube documentaries linked to his story.
- Where did the Amaury Rivera incident happen?
- The encounter occurred on the La Bajura road between Hormigueros and Cabo Rojo in southwestern Puerto Rico, during the early morning hours of Mother's Day 1988 (approximately May 8). The Cabo Rojo area sits near Laguna Cartagena -- a location with a heavy history of reported UFO activity spanning decades.
